Plumbing the Depths of Revelation 29

As John was looking at the heavenly temple and Ark of the covenant, a "great sign" appeared of a pregnant woman about to give birth. Her special appearance points to Genesis 37 and the dream of Joseph to help identify the woman as the nation of Israel. Next appears another "sign", not a great as the woman, but much more ominous "an enormous red dragon". Plainly this is the evil one or Satan, who is ready to devour the woman's child as soon as it was born. God prevents that from happening by snatching the child to His throne in heaven, but before that the dragon sweeps a third of the stars from the sky with it's tail.
