Luke 4:1-13; Following the baptism of Jesus, where He was filled with the Spirit and affirmed by the Father, Jesus is immediately led into the wilderness. The connection between Adam as the first son of God and Jesus as the one and only Son, becomes more apparent as the devil shows up to temp Him. Jesus was famished after fasting for 40 days, a connection to Moses fasting on Sinai for the same amount of time while receiving the Law, as well as Israel’s time of wandering in the desert for 40 years. Through each temptation, Jesus cited Scripture to rebuke the evil one and remained sinless.
