Luke 5:12-27; Luke continues building upon the theme of Christ’s authority and power. A leperous man humbly approaches Jesus for healing and is instantly cleaned by a gentle touch. He is warned not to spread the news, but instead to go present himself before the priests to be restorned into the community of Israel. That wasn’t the case, as the next section has Pharisees and teachers of the law present to hear Jesus teach and observe his miracles. There desires were granted as some men brought their paralyzed friend on a mat to Jesus for healing. Since they could not reach him through the door, they tore through the roof and lowered him down before the Lord. Before healing the man, Jesus forgave his sins, which sparked an immediate conflict with the Jewish authorities.
