Moses and Aaron return to the tent of meeting to hear from the LORD following the daunting series of events of Numbers 16. Yahweh instructed Moses to collect the staffs of the 12 tribal leaders of Israel and put them in front of the ark of the covenant. God would then reveal His choice for the spiritual leadership of the people by causing their staff to bud.
