Luke: A Gentile’s Chronicle of Christ 61

Jesus instructs the Twelve that the core of His earthly ministry is to bring “fire” on the earth. This is a metaphor for judgement of the wicked and refining of faithful followers. Likewise, Christ reveals that His mission is not to bring peace, but rather division. Families will be divided between those who come to faith and those who reject Jesus as Lord and Savior.
