Luke 1:39-45; 57-66; Continuing in Luke’s gospel account of the birth narrative of John and Jesus, Mary traveled 80-100 miles south to visit pregnant relative Elizabeth. When she arrived, Luke records the unborn John reacting powerfully to the presence of Mary and the unborn Jesus Christ. Elizabeth is filled with the Holy Spirit and proclaims how blessed Mary is to carry the Son of God. Then the narrative shifts to the birth, circumcision and naming of John. Zechariah’s muteness is removed and he praises the Lord for this wonderful blessing.
