Luke 7:36-50; Luke next records an invitation by a Pharisee to Jesus to attend a dinner in his home. A “sinful woman” came as an observer, as she had heard Jesus was going to be there. She began to weep in His presence, wetting his feet with her tears, wiping them with her hair and then kissing them. Finally she opened an expensive flash of perfume, which she poured on Jesus’ feet. The Pharisee was dismayed at this scene, but Jesus use it as a powerful teaching contrast between those who are saved and those who are not.
