Matthew 5:1-7; As noted while unpacking the first four Beatitudes, they are vertical in nature by defining a right and acceptable relationship with Goe. Beatitude five begins the horizontal instruction from Jesus, defining how believers are to relate to one another ….as well as the world. The focus of this message is the powerful theme of mercy.
Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us… forgive the offender, but it doesn’t mean you have to associate with that person again. Especially if it is harmful physically, emotionally, or spiritually. Crazy as it may sound, one of my favorite lines comes from a “Madea” movie. “You got to forgive them, because if you don’t, they take power over you”.. Good stuff.
Thank you for solid scripture and teaching..
