Matthew 5:1-3; The nine Beatitudes are an outline or “map” of the Sermon on the Mount where Jesus defines groups of people who will live with God in eternity. The first four Beatitudes are vertical in nature, describing the characteristics of the relationship between God and believers. The first group are those that God blesses or approves as “the poor in spirit” which aptly points to Job as a man who was lowly, contrite and humble in his acceptance of God’s will for his life….whether it be good or bad.
Amen. I have a dear friend who in 2017, lost her husband to cancer in February
Lost her daughter in April
Lost my mom in June
And in November, her son was critically injured in a car accident and in December
She as the next of kin had to make the decision to pull the plug. He was brain dead . His wife was mentally unstable and took the 2 young children and ceased all contact with her, a week or 2 before she had to decide.
She relied heavily on her faith, friends, and went to grief counseling. In the next years, she fought shoulder replacement, Covid, cancer, her surviving daughter suffered seizures and debilitating results.
Now almost 6 years later, she can turn down our street without mourning. She will be 73 this year. Her family is healing and and doing better. Faith? Yup.
