Yahweh instructs Israel through Moses to leave Mt. Sinai and head towards Canaan, however He reveals that His presence will not go with them due to their sinful behavior with the golden calf. Moses sets up the "tent of meetings" outside the camp and asks the Lord to reconsider, if he finds favor with his faithful friend. Yahweh agrees to go with Israel and shows Moses His glory in a powerful act of friendship.
